Call for International Prize by Onassis Foundation directed to Civil Society organizations

The Alexander S. Onassis Public Benefit Foundation, in view of its active involvement with the organization of the Civil Society Days of the 3rd Global Forum on Migration and Development 2009, in Greece and in accordance with the goals set forth by its founder, Aristotle Onassis, for the awarding of International Prizes, has decided to launch

The “Hestia” Onassis International Prize in Immigrant Integration and Human Development.
The Prize is a three year commitment of the Onassis Foundation and will be accompanied by a monetary award of EUR 50,000 per year. It will recognize a deserving and exceptional Immigrant Integration and Human Development initiative of a Civil Society Organization, team or individual based and acting, for 2009, in Greece, which is the host country for the 3rd Global Forum on Migration and Development (GFMD).

For the next two years, the Prize will be awarded to a Civil Society Organization, team or individual based and acting in the region of the GFMD host country, notably Latin America for Mexico (2010) and Europe for Spain (2011).

With this initiative, the Onassis Foundation confirms its lasting interest and strong commitment to this crucial social challenge.
