Rural Voices of Youth (RVOY) is an initiative of Voices of Youth (VOY) – UNICEF’s website for young people that allows you to connect to young leaders from around the world to share and express different views and interests. Using Facebook and VOY discussion forum, RVOY focuses on leadership of youth in the rural and urban community. Launched in Nigeria in 2005, the Rural Voices of Youth (RVOY) links young people from rural areas in different countries, who do not have access to internet, to explore, speak out and take action on global issues that are important to them in order to create a world fit for children
Today, the RVOY network has expanded to 22 countries (Liberia, Gambia, Peru, Pakistan, Bulgaria, Singapore, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Ghana, Oman, Kenya, Argentina, Togo, Bangladesh, Rwanda, Nepal, Uganda, Haiti, Swaziland, Morocco, Sweden and Nigeria) where RVOY focal points work with young people in communities on child rights and child participation issues.

I am a young man, passionate about youth empowerment and youth affairs in general. i am a student at the University of Nairobi and the secretary to a students group by the name “Students for Global Sustainability”- University of Nairobi chapter. we have recently done a project called “The Eldoret Return to school Project, which targeted children who are of the school going age but for some reasons are not going to school. through this we were able to return 185 children to school, through partnership with some students from college of Notre Dame, Maryland. we are extending this campaign to other parts of the country and continue to interact with large numbers of youths country wide.
I am interested in the opportunity to serve in the RVOY program and kindly request to be considered to serve in Kenya, as the country representative or in any other capacity, through which I can provide my contributions to help change the lives of the youths globally.
The youths all over the world have never had real opportunities to give their opinions on various issues and event to identify and grasp the many opportunities that are available for them. this is a great opportunity and i urge all the youths to use this tool to interact, share ideas, opportunities, knowledge and even challenges, for common good
