The Irish Aid Fellowship Training Programme, 2010/2011

The Government of Ireland, under the bilateral aid programme of the Department of Foreign Affairs, offers a number of study fellowship awards annually to candidates from Irish Aid’s partner countries, including the Occupied Palestinian Territory, to further their education in Ireland.

Fellowships are offered at postgraduate level only in areas which are particularly relevant to the development field in the individual’s home country such as, Nursing, Public Health, Human Rights/Law, and Development Studies.

Fellowship applicants must reside and be currently employed in the Occupied Palestinian Territory at the time of application for a fellowship grant. They should have achieved the necessary academic standards to be accepted onto a course relevant to their current /likely future employment.

All applicants should have a good employment record with a minimum three years of work experience in development.

In order to apply for this programme, the candidate must have identified a suitable study programme in the Republic of Ireland and have an indication from the university /college that he/she is a suitable candidate to gain entry to the study programme.

The fellowship costs covered under the programme include; tuition fees; stipend (accommodation, food, recreation); insurance (medical and personal accident), books and settling in expenses and research. A fellowship award is for the recipient to undertake a study programme; there is no financial provision for or assistance given to dependents.

All candidates should have sufficient English language skills and must have obtained either the score of 6.5 in the IELTS or 570 in the TOFEL, to study at an Irish Higher Education Institutions.
All successful applicants for a fellowship will be required to undertake a medical examination prior to arrival in Ireland.

The closing date for receipt of applications for the Irish Aid fellowship Training Programme 2010/2011 is January 22, 2010.
