The Development Marketplace is a competitive grant programme, administered by the World Bank that identifies and funds innovative projects with high potential for development impact. The 2010 regional competition for Latin America and Caribbean, supported by partners including the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Organization of American States (OAS) and the SGP/GEF, focuses on Youth Entrepreneurship under the banner of “Youth Developing Opportunity” in the following areas:
1) The commercialization of locally produced biodiversity and agricultural products;
2) Income generating opportunities for young people living in poor urban areas;
3) Social and economic initiatives that contribute to the well-being of vulnerable groups.
The call for proposals is now closed. A select group of finalists to be announced in December will get the opportunity to present their innovative projects at the main event in Bogota, Colombia, February 25-27.
If your organization is interested in becoming a local partner of the event, please contact Kimberley Wilson (kwilson2@worldbank.org).
