The Zimbabwe Multi-Donor Trust Fund (MDTF) was set up by a group of donors to support analytical work, and is administered by the World Bank. The MDTF seeks Expressions of Interest from qualified Zimbabwean consulting firms to undertake a study on opportunities for rapidly improving the productivity of smallholder irrigation schemes in the country.
The study should provide a review of the level and determinants of the operational status of a cross-section of approximately 40 small to medium scale smallholder irrigation schemes broadly distributed across the country. The report should summarise investment priorities for improving rates of utilisation and productivity of these schemes, and provide rough estimates of the underlying investment costs for rehabilitating each of the inventoried schemes. The information should be provided in a format useful to donors considering short-term investments offering favourable payoffs. The study should be completed within a period of approximately ten weeks.
Interested consultants are invited to indicate their interest in implementing this study. Interested parties must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform these services including descriptions of similar assignments completed; descriptions of experience with the assessment of smallholder irrigation schemes in Zimbabwe; and indication of the number and qualifications of staff to be committed; and any related qualifications deemed relevant to the assignment. Consultants may associate to enhance their qualifications.
The consultant will be selected in accordance with the procedures set out in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Selection and Employment of Consultants by World Bank Borrowers, May 2004 revised 2006.
