Press and Information Officer: Delegation of the European Union to Zimbabwe

The Delegation of the European Union to Zimbabwe seeks to employ a Press and Information Officer (Group 1) for the Delegation. The post is based at the Delegation offices in Harare. The incumbent will report to the Head of Delegation.

Job content
- Provide the Delegation with reviews of media, on a daily and weekly basis
- Provide ad hoc political analysis to the Head of Delegation
- Provide the public with information related to the EU and related to activities of the Delegation of the EU in Zimbabwe, in close coordination with the Head of Delegation and with relevant heads of Sections
- Implement the Cultural programme of the Delegation
- Responsible for the work plan and for the budget related to culture and information, as well as for related expenditures
- Prepare reports as requested, related to press, culture and information activities
- Manage the web site of the Delegation. Prepare information material produced by the Delegation
- Organise events related to press, culture and information
- Prepare press releases of the Delegation
- Maintain relations with the Media, and a database related to the Media and Culture
- Maintain relations with the Cultural Centres, particularly of member States Embassies
- Develop, in close coordination with the Head of Delegation and Heads of Sections, the visibility programme of the Delegation
- Contribute to any tasks related to media, culture and information, upon request
- Contribute to major events such as in particular but not only the Europe Day
- Conduct interest research as necessary and requested
- Organise the distribution of information material
- Assist the Head of Delegation with any other duties that may be required

Job requirements

- The candidate must possess a certificate of completion of 5 O-levels including English
- University degree in social sciences or with a focus on media/communications or Political Sciences, or degree in Journalism
- At least five years continuous relevant experience
- Excellent English: reading, writing and speaking
- Knowledge of French and other official languages of the European Union Members States will be considered an asset
- Proven extensive user experience with MS Office package or similar as well as with Internet based services
- Knowledge in current affairs and knowledge of the European Union and its institutions are required
- Excellent team player and should be able to develop contacts in various sectors of society
- Excellent organisational skills and analytical qualities

Duration: Indefinite period

Remuneration: According to the salary scales of the European Union and relevant experience
