The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) held its second Public Symposium, organized in cooperation with NGLS, on “Responding to Global Crises: New Development Paths” on 10-11 May 2010 in Geneva. More than 300 participants from governments, civil society, social movements, parliamentarians, international organizations and the media discussed the many threats and challenges facing developing countries in the face of the global economic, food and climate crises. They also focused on what global economic governance reforms and alternative development strategies are urgently needed to avert new catastrophes and scale up chances to meet the MDGs by 2015.
