The African Union Mapping of Youth NGOs and Networks in Africa

The African Union Commission as a publicly financed institution with a mandate entrusted to it by 53 Member States. Herewith it has a basic obligation towards all Africa’s people, as well as various stakeholders and partners, to keep them informed regarding its work. It is imperative, therefore, that the Commission should, partner, inform and communicate what it does, not only to foster accessibility and transparency, but also to consistently promote the AU’s achievements regularly and strategically to various stakeholders through diverse channels. In sequel, recognizing that Youth led and Managed, including Youth Serving NGOs and Networks in Africa are invaluable and infallible to advancing this move.

This Project to Map the work and scope of Civil Society Youth Groups in Africa is an activity of the AUC/HRST Division of Human Resources, Science and Technology (www.africa-union.org/youth.htm) in partnership with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Liaison office to the ECA, RECs and AUC in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. This partnership is benefiting from voluntary technical assistance of a youth volunteer in colaboration with the African Youth Network on Population and Development (AfriYAN)

Participation in this survey is voluntary as well as important to consolidate the interface of the AU Commission in its work to promote the African Youth Charter ratification and the Decade of Youth Plan of Action Implementation towards its biennial periodic review.

By accepting to participate, you and your organization will improve data available to the AUC to improve the Advocacy and Policy environment on Youth participation and development in Africa and thereby strengthen Government and Civil Society Partnerships at all levels.
