Swedish Embassy in Nairobi, offers an internship starting on or around 1 February 2011. The Embassy represents Sweden in Kenya and three other countries in the region. The Embassy is active in foreign policy to all areas including development cooperation, trade and promotion of Sweden as well as multilateral negotiations at the United Nations. In total, about 60 people at the embassy.
The internship can be focused primarily on either the issues of political development and respect for human rights in Kenya or economic relations including the promotion work in Kenya. The internship includes participation and reporting from the UN negotiations in Nairobi and consultation within the EU sphere.
Swedish citizens who are enrolled at a Swedish university or college and are credited for practice in the context of their studies can apply for the internship.
Approximately six months, starting about 22 August 2011.
Minimum ongoing Masters in one of these topics: politics, law or economics with an international focus
Excellent capacity for written expression in Swedish
Very good knowledge of English in both spoken and written
Good knowledge of IT and an interest in EU affairs
Desirable experience in the travel and / or live in Africa
The purpose of the practice
Trainees must have a principal, ie. the college or university at which you are a student. The internship must be part of the university’s regular programs, be an asset for academic credits and to provide student aid.
An internship contract signed between the Embassy in Nairobi and the trainee. Practice can not lead to employment.
Salary is not paid for practice.
Trainees are responsible for finding housing. Trainees should represent himself to have a valid insurance during their stay.
