5th Call for applications to the UN-Habitat Urban Youth Fund

The UN-HABITAT invites young people based in cities or towns from the developing world to apply for grants of up to USD 25,000. The application opens on the 15th of February 2013 and closes on April 15th 2013.

To qualify for a grant, the project in question must be led by young people aged 15-32, and be based in cities or towns in developing countries. The horrible situation of most youth in Tanzania’s urban areas especially young women who are abused due to the scarcity of opportunities to develop themselves. This is the group of vulnerable youth who are uprooted from their home to towns and cities like Dar es Salaam and Arusha as asylum seekers, unfortunately there was no opportunity available for them. We call for private sector, governments, donors and internatinal agencies to help in rescuring the problem. The focus is to change challenges to be an opportunity and problems to become a great project!

  3. We, as Tanzania’s youth, are in serious problem of sexually harrassment of internal displaced youth in towns and cities as aslum seekers especially Dar es Salaam who are forced to became sexual workers as a means to earn their living. This has had catastrophic effects on human rights violation and speed up the spread of HIV/AIDS for youth. This is a groupof vulnerable youths who need private sectors, governments, donor and international agencies to devote much o their efforts to solve the problem
    Thanks.
