The Open Society Initiative for Southern Africa (OSISA) and the Youth Empowerment and Transformation Trust (YETT), in collaboration with young women’s networks and formations in Southern Africa, are hosting a Southern African Young Women’s Festival (SAYWF) in Harare from 24 to 28 October 2010.
The Festival is designed to provide space for young women between 18 and 30 years of age, to come together and share experiences, share strategies and energise each other and celebrate their youth and the potential they have to advocate for social justice in their respective communities. Young women from Angola, Botswana, DRC, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe are encouraged to apply to be part of this exciting event! UNRISD is now accepting applications for an internship position based within the Publications and Dissemination Unit, working full time with the Web and Media Consultants. The Intern will:
- Assist with the day-to-day updating and maintenance of the UNRISD website in English, French and Spanish, and assist other staff with their contribution of content to the site; and
- Assist in strengthening the Institute’s global research communication strategy by supporting media outreach (national, regional and international media; specialist media; and United Nations–specific internal and external media).
It is estimated that half of the Intern’s time will be spent on the website, and half on media outreach.
Part I: UNRISD website
1. Assist with monitoring, updating and maintaining CMS databases.
2. Review and troubleshoot content contributed by UNRISD staff via the CMS for online posting. Edit and proofread this content prior to web publishing to ensure conformity with UNRISD House Style.
3. Liaise and work with UNRISD staff in order to ensure publicity of their ongoing work and new initiatives on the website.
4. Respond to users’ queries.

Submit an application if you are a prospective leader from the USA, the Russian Federation or the People’s Republic of China and, having completed your first degree (at least a Bachelor’s or comparable degree), have subsequently gained work experience and have already shown outstanding leadership potential in your career. A German Chancellor Fellowship allows you to carry out a project of your own design in cooperation with a German host you have selected.
The programme is under the patronage of the German Chancellor and also incorporates an intensive language course in Germany, a four-week introductory seminar in Bonn and Berlin, a study trip around Germany and a final meeting in Berlin. These activities provide additional insights into the social, cultural, economic and political life of Germany.
Candidates from all professions and disciplines, but especially individuals in the humanities, law, social sciences and economics, are eligible to apply to the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation directly. The Humboldt Foundation grants up to ten German Chancellor Fellowships annually for prospective leaders from each of the three countries named.

The IPCC Scholarship Programme has been established with the funds received on the occasion of the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize award to the IPCC. The first funding partner of the Programme is Dr. Gro Harlem Brundtland, Former Norwegian Prime Minister and UN Special Envoy on Climate Change. The goal of this programme is to help strengthen the scientific and technical capability in developing countries to contribute to climate science and research and to develop and implement climate change policies and measures at the domestic and international level. It aims to provide a sound knowledge base and stimulate institutional strengthening in developing countries. Priorities will include research on climate processes, the impacts of climate change in the most vulnerable regions of the world, the potential for adaptation and mitigation and sustainable development.
