Position Title: Executive Director

Duration: 2 years (possibility of extension)

Duty Station: Kumasi, Ghana

Young People We Care (YPWC) is looking for a responsible and motivated person who will be the Executive Director of the organization. The Executive Director will responsible for the overall coordination of YPWC’s activities and provide strong leadership to YPWC’s team of staff and volunteers, as well as manage resources to ensure that the implementation of programmes meets the required objectives within the agreed time and budget frames. The successful candidate will work under the direct supervision of the Board of Directors and Advisory Board.

YPWC is a registered youth-led and youth-focused organization that is headquartered in Ghana, with additional satellite offices in the United Kingdom and Canada. The organization is operated by a combination of young people (aged 10 to 35 years) and adult allies working on youth and development related issues worldwide. The mission of YPWC is: to educate and inform youth on global issues; inspire them to take action; encourage youth participation in global issues; identify and build sustainable partnerships aimed at youth development; and provide young people with the tools and resources required for effective action.

The YPWC office is run by about 6-15 young people from all around the world. The staff and volunteers live and work together in a communal atmosphere. The successful applicants for the position of Executive Director should look forward to living in a diverse environment. Willingness to work as part of a team and adaptability are prerequisites. Do you want to help educate young people on development issues, inspire and assist them to take action, help design programmes that empower youth and advise youth on how to implement action projects successfully? Young People We Care (YPWC) –a youth-led and youth-focused organization based in Ghana and with satellite offices in USA, Canada and the UK needs motivated young volunteers/interns who are interested in youth and development issues. YPWC educates young people, inspire and assist them to take action, help design programmes that empower youth and advice them on how to implement action projects successfully. Management and Entrepreneurship Seminar – FREE Software

The Meltwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology (MEST) in Ghana,
will be offering participants to the Management and Entrepreneurship
Seminar scheduled to be held from 29th to-31st October 2009 in Accra,
Ghana; the opportunity to use their networking application software
(NetWek) which is currently launched in Ghana for FREE.

NetWek, the new conference management software, will enable participants:
* See all attendees before, during and after the conference
* Refer one attendee to others
* Do recommendation base on attendees interest

NetWek helps people meet and talk to the right people by recommending
contacts to attendees based on their stated business interests during
sign-up. For example, an attendee who’s business interest is “seeking
a job” in a particular industry/ company may be recommended to contact
another attendee who’s business interest is “seeking talent” from a
particular industry or company or vice-versa.

Proposals invited under the African Diaspora Marketplace

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Western Union have joined hands together to launch the African Diaspora Marketplace. With remittance being recognized as a critical element for development of poor countries, this new opportunity has been organized to utilize the resources of the African diaspora living in the United States for the economic development of the Sub-Saharan Africa. This is a business plan competition in which the program would facilitate the Diaspora Direct Investment (DDI) in small and medium enterprises (SMEs) for increased job opportunities, enhancing local incomes and providing “delivery of vital goods and services.” Countries in the Sub-Saharan Africa are eligible to apply. However, it has been pointed out that only those countries where the USAID has ground presence and technical assistance in place will be eligible for the implementation of the proposed projects under the program. These countries include: Angola, Burundi, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, Mali, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia. African Youth & Governance Conference
