United Nations Young Leaders Training Programme 2023: Call for Applications(Scholarships available)

In an era where youth play an increasingly pivotal role in shaping our world, the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) is proud to present the United Nations Young Leaders Training Programme. With an astonishing 1.8 billion individuals aged 10 to 24 – the largest generation of youth in history – we recognize the importance of nurturing their potential.

Background:

The global youth are catalysts for change, contributing innovative solutions, advocating for social progress, and championing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to enhance lives and the health of our planet. The United Nations Young Leaders Training Programme, conducted online, is tailor-made for these young leaders.

Content:

This 4-week e-Learning course consists of 4 self-paced modules, each requiring 4-6 hours of study per week:

  • Module 1: The United Nations
  • Module 2: Conference Diplomacy
  • Module 3: Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
  • Module 4: Cosmopolitan Communication

Interactive elements include weekly readings, multimedia resources, and discussions with fellow participants and UNITAR instructors. Furthermore, participants can engage in 1.5-hour live webinars, featuring UN experts and covering essential topics:

  • Webinar A: The United Nations System
  • Webinar B: The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
  • Webinar C: Model United Nations (MUN) Training
  • Webinar D: UN Career Development

In addition, there is a 3.5-hour e-workshop each week, focusing on leadership development and providing virtual tours of the UN Palais des Nations and Geneva’s diplomatic district.

Participants:

The programme is open to individuals from all walks of life related to international affairs, including:

  • University students
  • High school students
  • Aspiring young leaders
  • Junior professionals from public and private sectors
  • Young-at-heart senior officials

To ensure a high-quality experience, registration is limited to 30 participants per session. Upon program completion, all participants will receive an official UNITAR certificate.
